SYDNEY, N.S. – A lengthy layoff of more than a month didn’t hurt the Cape Breton Lynx in the opening game of the Atlantic Under-18 ‘AAA’ Female Hockey League Championship on Thursday.

The host Lynx defeated the Eastern Stars of Prince Edward Island 5-2 at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. Two goals six seconds apart in the second period proved to be the difference for the hometown team.
